Safeguarding

Safeguarding Audit completed by Local Authority 7th December 2023

Pupil Voice Outcomes:

An officer met with a group of pupils from different year groups. Pupils expressed a high level of confidence in staff to keep them safe and as a result feel secure in coming to school. Pupils are able to identify who the DSL’s are in school and are confident in the procedures for sharing any concerns they have. Pupils have an excellent understanding of online safety and how they can keep themselves safe both in school and when at home, skills that have been developed including blocking contact from individuals they do not know, telling a trusted adult if they have a worry or receive contact from someone unknown, not sharing images with others. Pupils were positive about the broad safeguarding curriculum on offer which includes, safety assemblies, anti-bullying events and diversity celebration. Pupils are supported by both a school council and pupil e-safety team, both of these pupil groups deliver safety assemblies and provide updates to both classes and whole school, pupils feel that their voice is listened to, and any concerns or worries are addressed by staff promptly. The depth of knowledge pupils demonstrated is an indicator of the broad range of safeguarding activities and curriculum and demonstrate the positive impact it has had in supporting children to keep themselves safe both in school and at home. Pupils are clearly very happy in school and take a real sense of pride in their school community, this had led to pupils being unanimous in their view that this is a excellent and safe school leading one pupil to express it this way “I wish they could make this a boarding school so I can stop here all the time”.
