Explorers

Explorers!

As this will be the only update for the next two weeks, I wanted to think of something that you could do as a mini-project. As BBC Bitesize has been looking at various significant individuals over the last couple of weeks, I thought it would be interesting for you to complete a project on an explorer of your choice.

You can choose any explorer that you would like and should use the questions below to help focus your research on them. It would be lovely if you could display the facts that you learn in a creative way. I have listed a couple of ideas to provide you with some inspiration:

  • Booklet, Leaflet or Book
  • Poster
  • Poetry
  • Art work
  • Models
  • A digitally created piece of work
  • Videos
  • Songs

To help get you started have a look at the links below or ask your adult if they know of anyone that they would like to focus on with you. As always have fun laugh.

Questions that Miss R-S would like to know the answers to...

  • Where are they from?
  • Did they have any family?
  • Why are they famous?
  • Where in the world did they go exploring? - Can you find out about this area/areas? What is the weather like there? How has it changed over the years?
  • What was their most famous discovery/expedition?
  • What did they eat on their expeditions?
  • Did they ever do anything dangerous?
  • Why did you choose to research them?
  • What is your favourite fact?
  • How do you think you would feel if you went on their expeditions with them?
  • What makes a good explorer?
