Edgmond Hall Visit.
As part of our work in Science and Geography we visited Edgmond Hall. We had the opportunity to learn all about Living Things and Their Habitats by spending time pond dipping and having the opportunity to look in our observation trays to see which living creatures we found. We were very excited to find common newts, pond snails, water boatmen and dragonfly nymphs. Debbie (our leader) even found for us a great crested newt! It was very special to look at with its orange tummy. After that we had the opportunity to complete some geography work by taking part in an orienteering activity looking at numbers on a floor map and having to find those numbers in the garden to find the correct picture on our answer sheet. This was lots of fun! In the afternoon we went through the woods talking about different birds building different types of nests and different birds living in different habitats depending on the food available. We were then challenged to build our own nests, these could be dinosaur or bird nests. The children worked together to gather sticks and build circular shaped nests. Some of the nests were so big that adults could fit into them! We all agreed it had been another fun day and another best trip ever!
