VE Day

The 75th Anniversary of VE Day.

As we are about to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day from our homes, I thought I would offer a selection of activities that you can complete with your children as part of this celebration. If you would prefer not to discuss VE Day with your son/daughter you can find other KS1 history resources in the previous folders.

Peace Activity

Mrs. Ball messaged me today, to share an activity that she had seen from another local primary school that has been focusing on the word Peace. I think that it is a great word to look at in relation to VE Day so have listed a couple of different activity options that you could do to help your son/daughter explore the meaning of this word.

They could:

  • Draw a picture about what peace means to them? What do they find peaceful? Where do they feel it?
  • Create a peace rainbow. Filling in each strand with a word or sentence about peace.
  • Write an acrostic poem about the word.
  • Use a peace symbol to attach different colour strands of paper to that describe what peace means to them. For example they could use the sentence starters: Peace is or I feel Peace when.
  • Create their own piece of artwork or craft to represent peace.
  • Design and decorate a peace pebble.
