Sports Week
Monday
Today we had lots of fun trying out Fencing and Basketball. We also had an Active Maths lesson outside where we worked in pairs to find ten cards and answer a calculation on each to record on our answer sheets.
Tuesday
Today we tried Tchouk Ball led by the young leaders from Burton Borough School. It was a lot of fun. Then we walked to Lilleshall Hall and had a tour of the gardens with Tim to link in with our theme of Secret Gardens and the link with Capability Brown and Trentham Gardens. Lilleshall Hall was built by the Duke of Sutherland as his hunting lodge. The gardens were inspired by Capability Brown as he designed their garden at Trentham Hall. After lunch we completed the Nature Trail which linked to our science work of Living Things and their Habitats. It was a fabulous day and we can certainly recommend it for a lovely family walk.

Wednesday
Today we had another Active Maths lesson, this time looking at Position and Direction. There were two grids drawn on the playground and we were given instructions to follow so we knew our position on the grid. This afternoon we had fun again trying out a range of athletic activities out on the field.

Thursday
Today we had the opportunity to try out Tri Golf which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The coach was very impressed that we were all able to chip the ball as well as putt it. After that we had another Active Maths lesson describing movement and turns. This afternoon we walked down to Lilleshall Quarry to look at a pond habitat to fit in with our work in Science.

Friday
Today we had a go at Frisbee. It was a lot of fun but tricky because of the wind! We had to do a lot of running too but at least that kept us warm. What happened to the lovely sunshine today?
All of the children agreed that this has been a brilliant Sports Week. When we had a class vote Basketball and Tchouk Ball were voted as our favourite sports we had tried out.
