Working Together for Excellence and Enjoyment

Music

At Lilleshall Primary School we value Music because it is a powerful and unique form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act. Listening to and making music fulfils an instinctive human need for expression and creativity. It stimulates responses both on an emotional and intellectual level.

Children are taught Music in skill based lessons and through cross curricular subject areas ensuring progression takes place through the key stages. Children are encouraged to listen to, respond to and evaluate music from a wide range of traditions and cultures. Children are given a range of opportunities to compose, perform and evaluate music.

Peripatetic music lessons are available for children through Telford and Wrekin. Tuition fees apply and further details can be found on the Telford and Wrekin website. Music instrument hire is also available.

Professional music teams from Telford and Wrekin Music hub also provide opportunities for children to learn a range of different musical instruments such as the ukulele and the penny whistle. These sessions are usually focussed on a particular year group at a time. Key Strings a professional team of musicians visit regularly to work with children teaching them about musical terms, songs and introducing new instruments.
