Uniform Information

School Uniform

At Lilleshall Primary School, we take pride in the children's appearance. Our uniform is comfortable for children while they work whilst also being smart and helping the children to develop a sense of belonging within school. In order to keep cost down for parents, we have a flexible list of possibilities, so most uniform items can be purchased from supermarkets and other stores. As long as uniform is the correct colours, it does not have to have the school emblem. Mary’s, Tots’N’Teens in Newport also stock the Lilleshall School Uniform.

Support with the cost of uniform

If at any time you find the cost of school uniform prohibitive then please speak to the headteacher Mrs Cousins who will do her best to support you.

Second-hand Uniform

Second-hand uniform is  available from the school office. If you have uniform that is in good condition but not required any more, please bring it to the school office so we can pass it on to someone else.

Jewellery & Makeup

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exceptions to this rule include earring studs in pierced ears, a watch and jewellery linked to religion. Children must remove or cover these items during PE and games to prevent them from causing injury.

No makeup or nail varnish should be worn in school.

Extreme hairstyles

The school does not permit children to have extreme haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children and are not in keeping with the ethos of the school. This includes patterns shaved into the hair, excessive use of hair products and false hair. The definition of an extreme hairstyle is at the discretion of the Headteacher and Governors.

Water

We encourage children to drink plenty of water throughout the school day, therefore we also ask that you provide your child with a water bottle to use in school, please do not send in fizzy drinks. We are able to refill bottles up if the children drink all of their water.

We also ask that children have a coat with them each day so that they can go outside. With the changeable weather we experience in the UK, the temperature can sometimes drop between dropping off time and lunchtime so it is important that children have coats with them.

As you will imagine, when we have 210 young children in school, it can be hard to rehome items of clothing, book bags and water bottles when they get mislaid. Therefore, we ask that you put your child's name inside every item of clothing so that we can return it should it get lost. Many thanks.
