Spelling & Times table Test

Weekly spellings are set on a Friday and tested the following Friday.  I give the children some time to practise these during the week, however, they should also be practising regularly at home.  For an extra challenge, can they put their spellings into sentences?

By the end of Year 2, children should have instant recall of the 2, 5 and 10 times table and by the end of Year 3, they should have instant recall of the 3, 4 and 8 times table.  If you have access to times table rockstars at home, this is a great way of practising. There are also many online games and apps to support children with learning their times tables.  It is really beneficial to ask your child to randomly recall times tables facts, whether this is in the car, whilst cooking dinner or whenever suits you! 

Reading

We complete Whole Class Reading sessions in school and encourage children to read a range of genres.   Children will be encouraged to read independently in school and at home.  We would really like to encourage reading for pleasure and children are welcome to bring books from home to read at school too. 

P.E.

Our PE days will be a Tuesday and Wednesday so these are the days your child will need to come into school in their P.E kit.  Can you  please ensure your child is wearing joggers and a hoodie during colder weather.
