Whoo whoo! What a fabulous adventure Year 2 had at the Severn Valley Railway! We began our journey at Bridgnorth, hopping aboard a diesel train which was a bit noisy. We then travelled through Hampton Loade and arrived at Highley, where we visited The Engine House and explored some truly impressive locomotives. The children were excited to spot Henry from Thomas the Tank Engine and a big blue engine named Gordon! We were especially proud of Year 2 for spotting the axles on the trains, a fantastic recall from our DT lesson! One of the highlights was the Royal Mail train, where the children had a go at sorting letters, a lot of fun! Our return journey was on a steam train, which was a real treat! Watching it pull into the station with steam billowing and the whistle blowing was a magical moment. The rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels, and the wonderful, bouncy comfortable seats as we travelled back was the perfect end to a brilliant day.
