Making Our Learning Fly

Creating Active Schools

The headteacher has worked with the Creating Active Schools pilot for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin. This has enabled us to evaluate how active our children are, both during PE lessons and across the school day in general. The impact of this work has been an increased understanding of pupil voice, more active lessons, the development of appropriate policies and engagement with local community offer. The school also has increased knowledge of how active children are outside of school and the extent to which they lead a healthy lifestyle. This has led to some targeted support for individual children. The school continues to work with the project leader and pupil voice outcomes have shown the positive impact of the project work. Outcomes for pupils are above national in all areas with with 84% of pupils being active for 60 minutes or more a day, whereas nationally it is 47%. Nationally 44% of girls and 51% of boys meet the threshold but at Lilleshall Primary School 90% of girls and 77% of boys meet the threshold.
