Debate: Should children have had to work in the Victorian times?

Thursday 21st November

Should children have had to work in the Victorian times?

Today, Year 4 discussed what happens in a debate and decided whether we were for or against the motion, “Should children have had to work in the Victorian times?” We split into two sides: for and against and put forward arguments on the motion, agreeing and disagreeing with other members of the class. We discussed the British Value: Democracy and then voted at the end. 11 voted for the motion and 21 were against ! We then wrote a balanced argument in our literacy lessons as our chance to shine.
